Four years in South Korea, starting as an English teacher and ending as Language Testing Team Leader at Nuance, testing S-Voice speech recognition and building JIRA, ADB and SVN automation plus a Python Tomcat log analyzer to take the repetition out of it. In between: general manager of a medical-travel division built from scratch, and self-employed IT consulting — WooCommerce payment plugins, web shops, a customized spellchecker. Korean language studies at Hanyang University came earlier, in 2000.

German engineering degree in materials science with a focus on ceramic technology — a four-year programme closed by an industrial thesis written at HTM AG in Biel, Switzerland. Later complemented by E-Business Manager (University of Basel/FHBB, 2004) and Data Science at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (2014).
Apprenticeship and journeyman years building steel moulds and dies — the trade now called Polymechaniker in Switzerland. Where the habit of measuring twice, documenting the setup and building the jig before the part comes from.
